is there any thing special about a viro padlock ?, it is a heavy one and the key does not  come out unless it is locked it is a pin  lock.

dont know it is a bit knocked about ,it has a bolt going from top to bottom as the locking meck.

It's a normal Pin tumbler and can be picked without any real problems. It retains the key as it's not a 'Snap closed' style padlock. So when you turn the key to unlock the shackle will not 'pop' open. You have to pull the shackle up instead.

 

By retaining the key it ensures that it's in the locked position before you can get the key out. (Note as well that this type can't be shimmed)
