I been asked to put in an estimate for a local company on tuesday, who wants to change all their door locks, so that they all operate from just on key. They want me  to quote on 14 doors, which, all  are euro cyclinders. So Not having done a key alike setup before, I Would be greatful for any advice or pitfalls I may encounter.

Good advise from Stu,  make sure you order the correct sizes Kevin as not all doors are the same thickness.

Good Luck (Nice Job!)

Worth giving Duffells a call. Quicker turn around than most on this type of order

key alike euro cyclinder works with all the euro cylinders working off one key pattern...so all the pins in each euro have to be set up to take the "master  main key pattern" . to set up a euro  you have to have a "pin changing system"  eg.. unplug, change pins to match main key pattern, replug.

Both SKS and Duffels have these in their catalogues. Just call them both and see who can do the best price.

Richard,

After you have all the measurements, don’t forget to charge for keying them all the same? Write down the sizes for each doors/office on a piece of paper (sounds easy but always helps when ordering..)

Also ask your customer about the number of keys, and how they would handle a member of staff leaving or losing their keys? (Key control and restriction)

Ask what plans they have for expansion or changes too? Is this a rolling program?

What security would they require on the cylinders, anti snap/bump/drill etc…

This will come down to cost and budget, but will help to point you in a direction of cylinder platform.

And make sure you can supply any extra keys that they may require.

Hope this helps

Regards

Andy
