Hello to all, just a question....what make of "hard plate drills" do you people get? and what price do you pay or would you be happy to pay?...The thing is...i have just come across "tct hard plate drills" from "irwin  also...tct hardplate drills from Linear tools at very low price.....so have just got myself one drill from each company to test the quality and performance of the drills. always looking out for usefull items at low cost but  if possible good performance.

I'm currently using Souber drills.. £3-£9 each depending on size and supplier.

I also have a few Garrayson drills.. I'm too tight to use these in anger.. They are the bling drills in my kit box!

I use Souber and Forgemaster which I find good. I cannot get them in Spain so have to order from the UK. In the past I have found Forgemaster to be better than Souber but have just taken some from Jay so hoping they will perform well.

Hello, just used the "irwin tct hardplate drill bit" 6mm to go thro a upvc door to change the handles, the steel plate in the door did not pose much of a problem to go thro with the drill bit which it a good start. i know a norm hss drill bit may have done the same job,but just wanted to test the performance....result...not bad drill bit...now will try a old lock with hard plate and see how it goes....then do some tests on the linear drill....the cost of the bits are under £3...from linear...as the "irwin" bit was just under £10.....ohh the fun of research.....and cost cutting...and proffit making without robbing people.
