Has anyone used these cylinders and what are your views as I have used a few and the price seems good for anti snap, pick, bump BS.

Don't rate anything UAP after the fiasco with a while ago with their range of cylinders.

Dont rate them personally but have just had to start fitting them as part of our local authoraty contract. They have now requested all there cylinders are uap plus because they are  the cheapest snap safe around. To your average burglar though they will do the job but we are finding alot are faulty straight out of the box!

@Martin: There's a topic on here somewhere, I think from Gerry, about all the one's he fitted and then had to go out and replace after they began falling to bits!

Gerry had been down the workshop when I told him about them, and it was one of those 'Oh S**t' moments. We joked about him getting call backs for the ones he had fitted. You know what happened next!

@Ben: I had the same with both the UAP and ICL cylinders, where many of them were faulty straight out the box. Springs hanging out, keys that wouldn't go in the plugs, tight cylinders etc. SKS pulled them from there cylinder range after that.

If they invested a little more into better, and perhaps UK manufacturing of these cylinders, then I don't think there would be a problem. But they are manufactured 'elsewhere' for peanuts and this reflects on the quality of the product?

@jay: i agree and also if they are so bad out of the box how are you supposed to garantee to a customer that the snap safe will work without fail if some one tries to break in! It gives you no confidence in them at all!!

Don't get me wrong, UAP do some alright branded tools, CB, Lishi etc, but at the same time throw a lot of c**p out there as well, not just their cylinders?

I hear week in week out about tools that have been purchased from them that are simply inadequate for purpose. They are trying to flood the market on the back of known names within the industry that are involved with them, and I am surprised that these people allow it. £££ I suppose?

I have always maintained that when it comes to tools, the saying "You get what you pay for" couldn't be truer. New locksmiths will not have the experience and will go by tool descriptions regardless of brand etc, so it's not until they see the real thing that they know what they have paid for. Pay cheap....you get cheap.
