Havent had much dealing with these, so can somebody give me advice please.
1) What would be the general spares to carry for upvc doors (there are quite a few different mechanisms about)
2)Not having a UPVC door in my house. Ive watched the video on spread a door, and wondered if there is anything different if the door has `hook and mushrooms` rather than the straight bolt and latch.
3) Does this tool also work on patio doors. (2 doors that open outwards)
Im fitting an old upvc door to my leanto shed to practice on but it has a bolt & 5 point locking and not the hook type. I know the sensitive nature of this method so please pm with any help. Thanks.

mick, i dont carry any spares other than when i buy a replacement gear box for a common lock i buy 2 as they only cost me about £8 each and charge the customer £35 for the part. some over night locks that can secure the house while waiting for the part normal next day some sash jammers for outward opening doors also to secure and the spreaders will open all types of upvc doors and doors that are hung both ways

As Stu Says, you are best to secure the door while a replacement lock is sourced? There's such a vast amount out there you would never have every type on board, and half of it, like me, you would end up with for years to come!
Without going into detail the Spread-a-Door tools, used in the right way, will open 99% of doors without damage.

Thanks for the help, fitted door (on my leanto shed) it has very plush stained glass leaded window, letter box, gold effect handles and multilocking, so now I can practice on that either picking / snapping or trying out repairs. (Must be the poshished on the estate!!!!LOL)

The spead-a-door tools are great. I've had a great deal of success with them
